Welcome...
Cricklewood Farm is small, but continuing to grow...
It has been a year since I made the first attempts to homestead. The chicks started in April 2011 have grown into a flock of prolific layers. Summer 2011 gave us a taste of what it was like to only consume what we grow (the pun was intended). The farm is still in an "as money and resources permit" state, but the commitment to self-sufficiency is as strong as ever!
Continuing...
2012 is the year to continue to grow the food and raise chickens. The resources are still limited - no property (we rent), no large sums of money to create a fully fledged farm in one go (work - pay bills - extra goes to the farm).
It's also the year to look for ways to expand. I'd like to raise enough food during the growing season to can, freeze and dry for the winter months. I'd like to look for a rental with access to clean water and land (currently I "container" garden in kiddie pools), and enough room to expand my flock of chickens.
It's time to approach my goals with all the creativity I can muster. I hope you join me.
